Athena Technologies is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer with a PhD to design and develop AI systems that solve real-world business challenges. You will leverage your research expertise to build private AI solutions, applying technologies like Generative AI, LLMs, and deep learning.
Must-haves
- PhD obtained or expected by hiring date
- Research or development experience with AI/ML models using Python
- Foundational knowledge in machine learning, deep learning, statistics, and mathematics
- Experience translating research papers and technical documents into experiments and implementations
- Experience using Git, GitHub, etc.
- Experience explaining own research or validation results to others
- Ability to communicate smoothly in Japanese for business
Nice-to-haves
- Published peer-reviewed papers or presented at academic conferences in AI/ML
- Research or implementation experience in Generative AI/LLMs
- Research experience in image recognition, time-series prediction, mathematical optimization, or demand forecasting
- Experience in joint research, industry-academia collaboration, or corporate research projects
- Development experience using cloud environments
- Experience developing web applications or APIs
- Participation in Kaggle, competitive programming, or data analysis competitions
