newmo is a mobility tech company aiming to redesign Japan's transportation infrastructure by integrating physical AI, such as end-to-end autonomous driving models, with large-scale real assets. They are seeking a Director of Engineering (Autonomous Driving) to enhance the quality, safety, and operational readiness of their autonomous driving systems, bridging research and practical application.
Must-haves
- Management experience of development organizations (manager of section/group or higher) in product development including vehicles or in-vehicle/embedded systems.
- Experience designing and establishing development structures/organizational structures from scratch (experience building, not operating existing organizations).
- Experience building consensus across multiple departments such as software, hardware, quality assurance, legal affairs, and procurement.
- Experience designing and operating safety and quality requirements as development processes.
- Experience defining organizational challenges from business goals and prioritizing execution.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in autonomous driving, ADAS, or vehicle electronic control development.
- Experience in development based on Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and SOTIF (ISO 21448).
- Experience leading vehicle development or product development processes with mass production in mind.
- Experience in both software and hardware development organizations.
- Experience managing suppliers and development partners.

Annual salary: ¥15,000,000 - ¥25,000,000. Probationary period: 3 months.
