Tech Ocean is a startup solving the social issue of wasted study time for Japanese STEM students. They are seeking a Player-Coach Engineering Manager to lead and design the engineering organization's systems and culture, moving beyond just technical leadership to organizational design.
Must-haves
- 5+ years of web application development experience
- Experience leading a development team of approximately 5 people
- Experience in upstream processes including requirements definition and design
- Scrum development understanding and practical experience
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Fundamental computer science knowledge (algorithms, OS, networks, etc.)
Nice-to-haves
- Microservices and DDD design/operation knowledge
- Development experience with modern tech stacks like Go/TypeScript
- Experience designing/operating engineer evaluation systems and implementing training measures
- Experience in engineer recruitment (developer branding, interviews, etc.)
- Experience utilizing the latest tools like Generative AI
- Track record of writing and publishing technical articles
Work style
Onsite in Tokyo (Chiyoda-ku), with remote work possible.
Other notes
Annual salary range: 8,000,000 - 11,000,000 JPY. Monthly base salary: 548,850 - 756,825 JPY. Bonus twice a year (performance-based).
