ABEJA is seeking an Embedded Engineer to build a common platform for diverse robot and sensor groups, focusing on physical AI and social implementation. This role involves leading integration and implementation of middleware to bridge hardware differences and connect with higher-level control and AI systems for stable operation in customer environments.
Must-haves
- Basic understanding of robotics, control engineering, information engineering, mechatronics, and the ability to view robot systems holistically.
- Practical experience building robot systems using ROS or ROS2, including node design and interface adjustments.
- Development and implementation experience in robot-related software or middleware layers using C++ or Python.
- Practical experience in Linux development, debugging, process management, and network configuration.
- Experience communicating and sharing system configurations and technical judgments with multiple engineers and roles.
Nice-to-haves
- Software integration experience with off-the-shelf or ODM robots, or development experience using manufacturer-provided SDKs.
- Experience in abstract design and difference absorption assuming different hardware configurations (sensors, actuators, controllers).
- Knowledge of communication layers and distributed systems, and implementation experience considering real-time and synchronization.
- Experience building verification flows using simulation environments and actual machines, and absorbing machine-specific issues on the software side.
- Technical support experience during robot introduction, setup, and operation phases at customer sites.

Work style
Hybrid/Flex, with an expectation of coming to the office about 3 days a week. Location: Tokyo, Japan. Core hours are 10:00-15:00.
Other notes
Salary range: ¥6,000,000 - ¥12,000,000 per year. Includes 2 months' bonus per year. Includes 40 hours of overtime allowance per month.
