Marui Group's new tech company, Marui Unite, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and scale their engineering organization. You will report directly to the CTO and play a key role in shaping the team's culture and development processes to support the group's 2031 vision.
Must-haves
- Experience managing 10+ engineers with full people management responsibilities (goal setting, 1on1s, evaluations, compensation).
- Experience in indirect management (managing managers/leads).
- Proven experience leading engineer recruitment from position definition to onboarding.
- Experience defining metrics for development productivity and AI adoption, and reporting improvements to management.
- Technical understanding to engage with engineers on technical topics (e.g., code reviews, AI tools).
- Experience explaining and negotiating technical matters with non-technical stakeholders and management.
- Project management experience with progress tracking and risk detection.
Nice-to-haves
- Business perspective to discuss technology investment and organizational design with management.
- Ability to quantitatively explain the ROI of engineering organizations (cost, speed, quality trade-offs).
- Experience designing and implementing performance appraisal and grading systems from scratch.
- Experience managing teams in uncertain environments (startup culture within a large group).
- Aspiration to lead overall technical strategy as a future VPoE.
- Positive and honest personality.

Work style

Annual salary starting from 12,000,000 JPY. Probationary period of 3 months. Company is newly established (September 2024).
